Anaesthesiologist – Auckland – New Zealand

Location:

The city of Auckland is located in the northern part of the North Island. It is one of the most densely populated areas in New Zealand with around 500.000 residents. Many wine regions, beautiful beaches, pristine rain forests and the Gulf of Hauraki, surround the city. Auckland has a mild maritime climate with temperatures that fluctuate from 11 degrees in winter and 20 degrees in summer. Auckland has one of the highest hours of sunshine in New Zealand, with more than 2.000 hours of sunshine per year. Auckland was recently rated the third best place to live in the world.

The employer that offers this position owns 2 locations in the region. One of these is a large hospital that has approximately 1000 beds and the other location is a surgical centre, which has 78 elective beds and 10 operating rooms. With the exception of cardiothoracic and neurosurgery, the entire surgery spectrum is treated here. 5 fellows and 23 registrars make up the team.

Function:

On behalf of this employer in Auckland, we are currently looking for an anaesthetist for a full-time, permanent position.

The successful candidate will work at least 4 sessions per week. A session consists of 5 hours. The minimum number of sessions per week while on-call will be 5. For the shifts, there are either on-call shifts during which you must be present in the hospital or either must be available to work in case this is necessary. You will work at both previously mentioned locations. In addition, you will not only contribute to the guidance and education of registrars, but you are also expected to supervise interns, medical students and nursing staff. Furthermore, you are expected to take on organizational work for the further development of the department. You will also be actively involved in the appointment of new candidates.

Candidates must have excellent communication, education, leadership and social skills.
