Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city and the capital of its canton which shares the same name. The city has about 450.000 inhabitants and is the economic centre of the country. Zurich is located on the northern side of Switzerland and has clear skies due to its proximity to the Alps. Due to this, the mountains are visible from the city. In addition to the financial sector, the city is also an important infrastructure hub to which the international train station and airport belong. The architecture in the city consists of a beautiful combination of historical heritage to very modern buildings. There are also many art galleries and museums scattered around the city. The area, which is rich in mountains, lakes and forests, offers extensive opportunities for outdoor activities.

The position is offered by a secondary care hospital in the region. This hospital has six departments, 34 clinics and 12 interdisciplinary centres at its disposal. In addition, this hospital has close links with hospitals in the area and provides high-quality care to a challenging patient population. Every year 34.000 emergency patients, 25.500 inpatient and 137.500 outpatient patients visit this hospital.


On behalf of this hospital, we are looking for an anaesthetist for a full-time position. Good knowledge of the German language (C1 level) is required.

You are responsible, among other things, for the perioperative care of both inpatient and outpatient care. You provide general and local anaesthesia but also managing acute pain in clinical patients. In addition, you will strengthen the multidisciplinary team, which includes surgeons and Internal Medicine physicians. You will work with this team within the ICU and the ER. One of your tasks will be to maintain interdisciplinary relationships with colleagues from other disciplines. You will also be responsible for conducting outpatient and preclinical anaesthesia consultations. Finally, part of the duties will be to contribute to the education of not only registrars but also other medical personnel, such as nurses.

For this position we are looking for candidates who are experienced in the administration of local anaesthesia and the management of acute pain. Experience in Intensive Care is a plus. Candidates must have good social skills and be able to work well within a team. Candidates who show initiative, have an open attitude and are highly professional are preferred.

A good knowledge of the German and English language or the willingness to learn this is required. For registration in Switzerland, B2 level is required, although mastery at C1 level is desirable in the clinic.
