Horgen is a historic town in the north of Switzerland. It has served as a traffic hub for the north-south axis since 1230. The city has become a popular place to live and work and a destination for recreation and excursions. In addition, approximately 18.000 people live in Horgen. This versatile city is located on Lake Zurich and, as the name suggests, is close to Zurich. As a result, this city fulfils both the metropolitan needs and the desire for cosiness and tranquillity. The position is offered by a regional hospital from this area. This hospital provides high-quality care to the local population of Horgen and its surrounding territory. The healthcare institution consists of this hospital and another location. In addition, about 1.000 people work here. This hospital functions as a training place for various medical personnel. A wide range of treatments are performed at the Gastroenterology department, including both invasive and non-invasive procedures.
On behalf of this hospital, we are looking for an experienced gastroenterologist for the full (or part) time position (0.8 – 1.0 FTE) of head of the Gastroenterology department. A good knowledge of the German language (C1 level) is a requirement, and the appointment is for at least one year.
The successful candidate is responsible for performing endoscopies, ultrasounds and taking liver biopsies, among others. In addition, you will in work both in- and outpatient settings. You actively contribute to the multidisciplinary meetings and together with the team you will coordinate the correct treatment plan. Part of the tasks will consist of training registrars and the further training of general practitioners. Additionally, there are on-call duties. As head of the department, you will also tackle a varied range of tasks and solve problems in a very challenging work environment.
For this position we are looking for experienced candidates who are able to show initiative, are flexible and work well in a team. Candidates also have good social and communicational skills and leadership experience. Lastly, candidates with an interest in teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration are preferred.
A good knowledge of the German and English language or the willingness to learn this is required. For registration in Switzerland, B2 level is required, although mastery at C1 level is desirable in the clinic.
