Wellington is located in the south of the North Island in New Zealand. The city lies on the Cook Strait, which is the body of water that separates the North and South Islands. Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and has about 178,000 inhabitants. It is also the political and cultural centre of New Zealand. The population is relatively young and affluent which is reflected in excellent schools, a wide range of cultural events and more cafés and restaurants per capita than New York. In addition, the cost of living is low and there is a lot of choice in housing.

The position is offered by a relatively new practice with an attached pharmacy, gym, physio, podiatrist, hand therapist and wellbeing service. All these specialities are housed in one building, meaning they can offer the best integrated services available. It’s run by a General Practitioner and Pharmacy team. In total the team consists of nursing staff, health improvement practitioner, health coach, community worker and a Pharmacist.

Job description

On behalf of this practice, we are currently looking for a General Practitioner with experience. Its for at least 12 months, and fulltime.

The right candidate will work with a lovely and hardworking team. All the members of the team will offer all the help you need, in order to properly settle in the region. The practice is opened on weekdays, and you will work 8 sessions a week. In one session you see around 11-12 patients, and one session is around 4 hours. This means you can take your time for each patient. In this time you can focus on the long-term relation between doctor and patient. This relationship is one of the main cornerstones of this practice and their way of ensuring continuity of care. It helps them reaching the highest standards of care and processes at all times. During sessions you will see patients face to face or trough phone and video consults. On some days they are opened in the after-hours, you will work during after hours only around 5-6 shifts every 3 months.

For this position you need to be able to register as General Practitioner with the Medical Board of New-Zealand. In order to do so, experience as a GP is necessary.
