Gynaecologist – Auckland – New Zealand
The city of Auckland is located in the northern part of the North Island and is New Zealand’s largest city. It is one of the most densely populated areas in New Zealand with around 500.000 inhabitants. The city is surrounded by many vineyards, beautiful beaches, pristine rain forests and the gulf of Hauraki. Auckland has a mild maritime climate, with temperatures fluctuating from 11 degrees in winter and 20 degrees in the summer. Auckland is one of the areas with the highest number of sun hours in New Zealand; more than 2000 hours of sunshine per year. Auckland was recently rated the third best place to live in the world.
The position is based at an oncology centre that is the largest of the 3 gynaecological oncology centres in New Zealand and offers tertiary care to a population of 2.3 million people. As such, patients are referred to this centre from multiple regions. More than 1000 people are treated in this centre yearly. Of these 1000 patients, around 500 patients are treated surgically. The department has 22 beds. The team consists of 4 other gynaecologists. Furthermore, 1 fellow, 2 registrars and 1 house officer support the team. In addition, specialized nurses, psychologists and physiotherapists are present at the department.
On behalf of this hospital in New Zealand we are looking for a gynaecologist with a sub-specialty in oncology for a full-time position. The appointment will be between 12 and 18 months.
You will work in multiple locations, including peripheral clinics. Together with the above-mentioned team you will provide several pre-invasive services to the people of New Zealand such as colposcopies and the management of vulva clinics. You will also contribute to the education of registrars, interns and other medical staff. Together with this team you will cover the entire Gynaecology spectrum, with an emphasis on Oncology.
For this position you must have excellent communication, social, administrative and organizational skills. You must also have Gynaecological Oncology as a sub-specialty. Candidates with formal teaching experience are preferred.
