Paediatrician – Biel – Switzerland

Location:

Biel is a city in the northwestern part of Switzerland. This city has about 53.000 inhabitants. It is the only city in Switzerland to be officially bilingual; both German and French are spoken. The city is located on Lake Biel in the canton of Bern on the Jura mountains. The city is best known for its rich watchmaking history. Biel is therefore home to many major watch brands such as Rolex, Omega and Swatch. Temperatures vary between 20 degrees Celsius in summer and below zero in during winter.

The position is offered by a paediatric clinic from this region. In this clinic, patients are treated up to the age of 16. In addition, the hospital has 26 beds (6 of which are for neonatology) to its disposal. The clinic is part of a hospital in the region. This hospital provides care to a population of 72.000 people and practically all medical specialties are practiced. The paediatricians are supported by a team of specialized nurses and together they provide both general and surgical care to the patient population. In addition, this team is supported by a paediatric anaesthetist and emergency care is offered. Lastly, the clinic serves as a training place for the medical staff.

Function:

On behalf of this clinic, we are looking for a paediatrician for a full-time, permanent position. Part-time appointment is possible.

The successful candidate will join the previously mentioned enthusiastic team. Part of the tasks will consist of supervising and contributing to the education of medical students, interns and registrars. You will work in a dynamic and challenging environment where you will use your knowledge, skills and experience to treat the patient population. In addition to the regular tasks, you will take on additional organizational and administrative tasks.

Preferably, candidates are sought with clinical paediatric, neonatology and ER experience. In addition, candidates must be fluent in French or German in both speech and writing and have an affinity for interdisciplinary cooperation.
