Middlesbrough is an industrial city in North East England along the North Sea coast on the Tees River in North Yorkshire. The population of Middlesbrough consists of approximately 142,000 people. The city is situated in an area rich of nature, close to the North Yorkshire Moors and the beautiful coastline. The city has a great range of local amenities and is characterised by highly acclaimed schools. Furthermore, Middlesbrough is easily accessible by a good infrastructure including a train network. The Lake District is less than a two hours’ drive and the international airports of Leeds Bradford and Newcastle can be reached by car within one hour.
The corporation of academic hospitals, by far the the largest in the region, consists of multiple centres, including a university hospital. Basic and specialist tertiary services are provided to a population of approximately 1.5 million. The university hospital performs the role of Major Trauma Centre for the entire population. In addition, it also houses the Regional Spiral Injuries Unit that provides service for the north of England and a population of 3.4 million. The Radiology service encompasses 3 centres and the university hospital contains a separate neuroradiology unit. The combined imaging facilities consist of four CT scanners, two 3T MRIs and three 1.5T MRIs, all less than 2 years old. There is a PECT-CT, SPECT-CT and separate rooms for ultrasound, fluoroscopy, hybrid endovascular treatments and a dual planar Neurology room. There is a PACS system in all centres and the option for home reporting is currently under development. Weekly multidisciplinary meetings and a motivated highly skilled team provide high quality care.
On behalf of the above-mentioned academic hospital group, we are looking for a motivated radiologist for a full time permanent position. The group is particularly interested in the sub-specialities of interventional radiology, paediatric radiology, uroradiology, neuroradiology, and oncological radiology.
You will apply your clinical expertise for in- and outpatient consultations, during multidisciplinary meetings and on multiple locations. Next to the clinical duties, there is a wide range of possibilities within teaching, education, research and audit. Due to the close links with the university, there are extensive possibilities in further specialist training. You will be expected to contribute to the educational supervision of junior medical staff and participation is research is actively encouraged.
The employer offers attractive employment conditions. The annual salary will be between £ 76,000 and £ 108,000, depending on your experience and qualifications. A relocation package of up to £10 000 is offered for helping you move houses. Possession of a full GMC registration is required before the start of the position.
