Location

Palmerston North is a city on the North Island of New Zealand in the Manawatu-Whanganui region and has about 77,600 inhabitants. The city is located about 140 kilometers north of the capital Wellington and near the river Manawatu. The city is an important traffic hub, both for road and rail traffic. The Massey University, which is located here, forms almost a small town south of the Manawatu. The city offers excellent restaurants and shops and lots of local outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, fishing, hunting and camping.

The hospital is a secondary hospital with 350 beds. The total population of the region is 186.000. They have close links with the Auckland and Otago medical school, and are a teaching hospital.

Job Description

On behalf of this hospital we are currently looking for a Radiologist, for a fulltime position. Appointment is at least 12 months.

The right candidate will work at the hospital’s Radiology department were they carry out approximately 96.000 examinations a year. Besides the examinations you will provide care to the regional population of around 166.000 inhabitants. Services to this population include: Oncology, Breast screening and Renal and Urology. In order to provide the best care you will work closely with your colleagues from those departments. The hospital holds clinics including Respiratory, Rheumatology and Paediatrics. These clinics are an opportunity to improve skills and knowledge. When necessary the hospital has specialists visiting from Wellington. These specialist work within the Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic surgery department. The Radiology department is up to date with possibilities for CT, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound and DSA. They offer seven general digital radiography rooms and Nuclear Medicine with 2 gamma rooms. The department works closely with the other departments within the hospital, and they strive for close interaction with the community.

The employer offers excellent terms of employment and the opportunity to work in a modern environment. It’s necessary that you have a registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as a Radiologist. In order to register an excellent command of the English language is necessary.
