Frauenfeld is the capital of the canton of Thurgau. This vibrant city has an attractive old city centre. The Frauenfeld castle can be found right in the middle of this downtown. As the presence of the castle may indicate, the architecture of the town is classical and so traditional houses from the 18th century can be seen in the picturesque alleys of the town. In addition, Frauenfeld is the starting point for many cycling, skating and walking routes. Destinations such as the Seebachtal, the many castles and the fantastic panoramic views are very worthwhile to visit. The Carthusian monastery of Ittingen, a jewel of national importance, is located a few kilometres from Frauenfeld.
